Today Frase calls itself a content operating system: an AI agent that researches a topic, drafts the full article and its images in your brand voice in 70+ languages, scores it for SEO and GEO, publishes it to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity or Wix — or hosts it for you on FraseCMS — then watches the live page and proposes a fix when its ranking decays. It can even auto-publish content types you decide to trust. It has a 4.8/5 on G2 across 500+ reviews and customer logos like Oracle, Coursera and GitLab.

The prices collide head-on. Frase Starter is $49/mo month to month — exactly DropContent's entry price — and includes 10 articles a month against DropContent's 5, plus 50 audit pages and a 7-day no-card trial that is longer than our 3-day, card-required one. Nobody should tell you DropContent is the cheaper Frase; it is not.

What is left is a difference in who the product assumes you are. Frase is built to be DIRECTED: you brief the agent, review drafts, tune autonomy, watch scores. It rewards an operator. DropContent assumes there is no operator — you connect your site once, and finished posts appear on your blog, and on LinkedIn and Reddit, whether or not anyone ever logs back in. Frase's agent can draft social posts, but its published integrations are CMS-only; DropContent actually posts them.

If someone at your company will run a content tool, Frase gives you far more machine for the same money. If nobody will, the narrow job DropContent does — posts appearing, blog plus LinkedIn plus Reddit, zero operation — is the job.

Does Frase write full articles, or only research and briefs?

It writes full articles. Frase's own pricing page leads with "Finished content, not outlines," and its agent drafts complete pages — including the images — in your brand voice, in 70+ languages. An earlier version of this page said Frase stops at briefs; that described the 2023 product and we have corrected it.

Does Frase publish to my CMS, or just export drafts?

It publishes. WordPress, Webflow, Sanity and Wix integrations are included on every plan, and Frase can also host your blog on FraseCMS free up to 100,000 page views a month. This page previously claimed Frase required manual copy-paste; that was wrong. The accurate difference is the list: DropContent publishes to Shopify and Ghost, which are not in Frase's published integration list, and Frase publishes to Sanity and Wix, which are not in ours.

Does Frase generate images?

Yes — its agent "drafts the page and its images in your brand voice," per Frase's own feature page. An earlier version of this page said it did not; corrected. DropContent also generates branded images with SEO alt text. If images are your deciding factor, this is a tie — decide on something else.

Is DropContent cheaper than Frase?

No. Both start at $49/mo month to month, and Frase's $49 includes 10 articles to DropContent's 5 — plus site audits and AI-visibility tracking we do not offer at any price. Frase gets cheaper still on yearly billing ($39/mo). The honest pricing difference is shape, not size: DropContent is one flat price per site with no seats, add-ons or pay-as-you-go meters to think about; Frase's sticker is a floor you can add seats ($29/mo), overage capacity and CMS hosting to.

Can Frase publish automatically like DropContent does?

Yes, with a setup step. Frase's Autonomy feature starts every content type in review; once you trust a type's approval rate you can switch on auto-publish for it, with a quality guardrail that pauses it if approvals slip. It is opt-in and per-type, and it is real. DropContent's difference is the default: auto-publish is how it normally runs, with review mode available — built for owners who will never open the dashboard to flip a dial.

Does either tool post to LinkedIn or Reddit?

DropContent publishes a LinkedIn post and a Reddit post generated from the same research as each article, as part of the normal run. Frase's agent can draft social posts when you ask ("repurpose an article into social posts," in its own FAQ, with channel repurposing a named Scale-tier feature), but no social network appears in Frase's published integration list — the posting step is yours. If social distribution should happen without you, that is the concrete difference.

Does Frase keep old posts from losing rank?

Yes — this is a genuine Frase advantage. Content Guard watches your published pages, and when one starts losing Google rank it writes the revision and republishes on your approval (Starter watches 10 pages, up to 300 on Scale). DropContent has no equivalent: it writes and publishes new posts and does not monitor or refresh existing ones. If content decay is your problem, buy Frase.

Will automated content from either tool actually rank?

Neither tool can promise that, and be suspicious of one that does. Frase's edge is the optimization loop: drafts scored against what already ranks, GEO scoring for AI search, and decay repair after publish. DropContent's posts ship with a structural floor — headings, internal links, alt text, schema — and the volume consistency of never missing a scheduled post. Either way, the test is the same: read the first posts and keep going only if you would put your name on them.
